Make your bathroom wall go WILD.

The latest and greatest trend in a small OR large bathroom is to tile-play.

What does that mean? Get crazy with your tile. Don't play it safe. Pick something that looks insane in the showroom, but will wake you up in the morning with a bang!

AND Its our little secret -- This can give your bathroom the look of LUXURY you are looking for, without much upkeep. Tile is easy to clean, and will take up a large space... thus eliminating the need for art.

GEOMETRIC PATTERNS:
The larger the pattern, the bigger impact it has.

REPETITION: The same larger pattern on repeat creates rhythm and sanity for a busy yet powerful wall.

ABSTRACT: The various tile work that is actually artwork to the room gives the room a "cleanable" way to decorate

COLOR: Don't bring in just pattern, but in a fun and whimsical room... pop the color!

SMALL PATTERN: And yes sometimes a smaller pattern can be just the ticket for the space. A more form fitted pattern helps to find a reason in chaos.

Turn those bathrooms into something NEW!

Floating Vanities ... all the rage or preparing for a flood?

For some time now, you might have seen a vanity... mounted several inches up onto the wall... with a space below.
Aka ... a floating vanity.

But why? You ask. Are we anticipating an overflow of the bathtub? Or bad plumbing?

You know us better than that... We are here today to tell you why FLOATING VANITIES are ALL the rage and how amazing they really are.

1. It visually increases the wall height:
By floating the vanities, you are telling the eye to look up. And this makes the wall appear stretched and taller, therefore more luxurious, open and clean.

2. The idea creates more floor space in a small area.
Yes, while it may not be usable floor space, you have the appearance of extra, beautiful flooring and can accentuate a speciality tile or wood.

3. When doubled up and mirrored across a room, you create a simplistic freeing space.
We love this look across a bathroom. Just by raising these vanities up, we gave the room a breath of fresh air.

4. It creates a clean appearance.
Yes, while it may be a pain in the neck to clean (#sorry #beautyispain) it will APPEAR cleaner, fresher and beautiful.

Are you ready to raise the roof (i mean vanity)??

Space Saving Series Part 2: The Bathroom

Continuing with our SPACE SAVING SERIES,

We bring you ... the BATHROOM.

Many bathroom spaces can easily become cramped, but there are plenty of times that they "seem" cramped solely because of the materials used.

See below TIPS we've decided are the best!

1. Wall Mounted Toilets and Faucets :

This saves countertop space and provides for a seamless look!

2. A Toilet/Sink Combo:
This one just cracks us up. I mean, how do you use this sink? Do you stand to the side, or straddle the toilet? Let us know in the comment section what YOU think!

3. The Floating Vanity:
Lifting the vanity off the floor doesn't "save" much real space but visually gives off a more open and airy feel which makes the rooms seem more spacious

4. Clear Glass Shower Surround:
Similar to the floating vanity, a clear glass surround helps the room not to feel closed in or cut off.

Bathroom Trends of the Day

We love to complete bathrooms and make them feel as if the atmosphere is a spa.

In order to give our best to our clients, we are constantly doing research to find new and impressive ideas to bring to a space.

These are some of the trends we have found that are being featured on Houzz as incredible bathrooms.

HERE'S WHY:

1. Faux Wood Flooring:
We love the look of these wood floor tiles that have come so far from where they started.

2. Brass Gold Fixtures:
Add a little sparkle to the bathroom with gold

3. Bold Shower Doors:
Whether bold showers or no shower doors, this look is one to be documented

4. Glass Block Walls:
This play on the 90's glass block is new, modern, and we love it!

A New Fad - Refrigerators in Bathrooms!?

At TCI, we are always looking for new and interesting aspects to add to our design ... whether it is a color, pattern, shape or object ... we want to offer our clients the most unique possibilities!

When we stumbled across this Houzz story, we couldn't help but wonder what client might need JUST THIS in their master suite?

A Refrigerator.

It's brilliant ... I mean, who wants to walk through the house in the middle of the night, or after a long relaxing shower to go to the kitchen? Why not keep a small stash in your master suite??

Here are a few reasons WHY:

1. For keeping a bottle of wine chilled to enjoy in the master suite. We all know this would be nice ;)

2. Beauty products such as lotions, eye creams or natural beauty aids are best kept cold.

3. You will want to stay hydrated while soaking in a long hot bath ... water bottles stocked in the fridge is an excellent choice.

4. Many medicines are kept refrigerated ... and this way it doesn't mix with your foods in the kitchen.

5. Why not? They're easy to hide!

So are YOU our client that needs this new discovery??

Client Project: A Fresh Bathroom with an Industrial Twist

We have been on a roll recently with finished projects and love to show you each and every one of them!! Completing something beautiful ... from whatever condition it began in, is so rewarding for us and our clients!

Today we are VERY proud to show you the overhaul of this remodeled bathroom.
First, we show you the FINAL PRODUCT!

As always, every good remodel begins with the floor plan. In this particular project, we rearranged much of the existing floorplan to give more functionality and sense to the space.

Now take a look at where we BEGAN:
BEFORE:

We obviously came a LONG WAY. We've opened up the space immensely by knocking down walls and creating a galley style master bath.

A free standing tub in a smaller scale, helps to not take up to much space, yet still gives a unique and functional purpose in this space.

One of our favorite aspects of the entire bathroom space is the sliding stained doors on a track system that lead into the closet. We were able to "hide" a space that might not want to be seen often and still open up the bathroom space with the use of these doors.

Instead of typical vanity lights, we chose hanging sconces to give the space a taste of industrial and uniqueness.

A large walk in shower was created at the end of the galley bathroom by using frameless glass and a combination of subway tiles and a glass accent mosaic strip.

At the end of the day, we can officially say, this bathroom renovation was a huge overhaul and a HUGE success when it comes to functionality, design and aesthetics!

Reno's CAN be fun too!! ;)
