Modern Flowers for a Fresh Space

Many people may think that flowers are "out of style" .... or "traditional".... but we say NO!
If you use the RIGHT flowers in the correct way, you can accomplish things accessories just can't.

Here are some of our favorite foliage for a contemporary setting, and HOW to use them correctly!

Craspedia:
This little bud is not only adorable button add just the right about of color in a small vase, or series of vases.

Cotton:
Yep, we aren't kidding! This "flower" provides texture without distracting with color. Bundle several sticks together for a full, space-taking-up pop!

Protea:
We love this huge flower. On a floor, or in a giant vase, it screams "HELLO" in a beautiful way.

Thistle:
We recently used this floral as a styling device that stood out as unique, and NEW. Place in a bowl or bunch together in a vase.

Olive:
Simple and classic. These are minimal buds and we love the simplistic look they give off. Clear glass vases are the best way to get your money's worth on this guy.

Split-leaf philodendron:
Yes, that's a tongue twister -- but well worth it. One or two of these leaves will leave you happy and excited to view a floral any day.

Allium:
Similar to the first flower, we love this for it's round, simplistic shape and color. But the large bud this time makes for an extra special surprise!

Our Shopping Trip for Fresh Flowers - An Easy Accessory

We were busy yesterday getting ready for two photo shoots...
exciting days for us! To see our finished spaces again
ALL DRESSED UP!

Terra, Jessie and I had fun cruising through the floral freezers picking
just the right selections for our showcases... wish we brought jackets:).

Here are some tips for you to add living accessories with bold
color to your rooms:

Fresh flowers always help cheer up a space, whether the weather
outside is great or not!
It is an easy addition to a shelf, countertop or console table to bring color and a smile to the face of the homeowner.

Choosing the right flower, color and arrangement is only half the fun!
Finding the perfect "home" for the arrangement completes the space.

A big bucket of peonies dumped onto a farmhouse dining table is a beautiful way
to make the space chic yet rustic all at the same time.

Bud vases of tulips are a surprise waiting to happen! We love the look of closed tulips as well as open, and you get two totally different looks!

Mix and match colors to help bring color schemes together. Through artwork AND accessories, color schemes can all make sense.
The blush florals will be PERFECT for an upcoming
master bedroom install...

Don't forget the unordinary. Often plants and flowers that aren't used often
tend to take the show! The deep purple makes me drool...

Lastly, find a wonderful florist that stocks all sorts and colors of flowers for you to
choose from, and use them often!!

See how this vase of yellow draped flowers soften the room and bounce yellow even more around the space?

This tall vase of purple alliums create drama and beauty by the height
and puff like appearance.

Head out on this pretty summer day and grab yourself a beautiful bouquet of flowers
to brighten up your space!

Happy Mother's Day and more~

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

...and Happy Mother's Day to the rest of you Mom's out there!

I wish I had the privilege of spending today with my mother,
but distance has certainly gotten in the way-

On the flip side, I wish the one in the middle could spend the
day with her mom, as well.  Yet again... the distance thing as well as
"the work thing!" Nonetheless, the two ladies above are two of the most
important and influential people in my life.

One who has been the best mom ever and
one who will be in the future~
xxxooo

But... there's more

more kids that is-

I've had the great pleasure of spending my Mother's Day weekend with them-

First, Friday night with the little sweetie at
her volleyball banquet
and Saturday with this handsome guy doing some charity work.

One of the best parts of being a mom is spending quality time with your kiddos.

Mom's of teenage sons in the Dallas area, if you don't know about
... take note of the message below

Think of it as Junior League... but with your son:)

We headed down to Victory Park at O'dark thirty Saturday morning, hoping to
catch a few leftover glimpses of the celebration of the Mavericks playoff win in the Plaza-

My son and his friend did think they scored when the blonde Channel 8 meteorologist
came out to interview the boys about the 10 year anniversary of YMSL

The boys did compose themselves as we completed our charity work of creating
gift bags for 50 teachers who work in the downtown area

Complete with handwritten notes from the boys-

We had a great time,
headed to a double header volleyball game and then
I did something that made me happy~
planted flowers

My mom loves to garden and when I have the time,
I love it too~

Here's a shot of her yard in their last house

If you are spending your mother's day
potting your planters-

Here's a peek at a few that caught my eye...

Take the break and enjoy your Mother's Day...
you deserve it!

Until next time,
