Pets of Design: Share your TCI project with your pet!

For a fun break in design tips, we thought we'd share a special part of the design process that we find particularly interesting and exciting :)

As always, we strive to create a space for our clients that reveals who they are and a place they can be comfortable. For some, that means making a nook for their kids….
while others it means…
PET friendly!

Pets are important members of many households…
so therefore they play a huge role in the design process!

We hope these pictures bring a smile to your face as we describe a few tips to make a house more friendly for your furry friends.

- The bedding must be washable

see more of this TCI project HERE

- the furniture must be durable and scratch free

- the fabric must be scotch guarded

 - Lastly, you must always take time to give them a pet or two:)
(say hi to Ozzy, my sweet shitzu)

If you are a past client and have a pet in a TCI project, we'd love to see it!!

Painting your Interior Doors …. Black??

Calling all design goo-roo's.
We want YOU to weigh in on this topic!!

What do you think of the newest design trend… painting your interior doors black??

Here are a few of the ideas around this topic:

1. They are a classy look: A bold statement in an otherwise ordinary space

2. A black door can help to complement the other black colors throughout the space

3. The easily hide: If you have a door panel that you aren't fond of….
the black paint camouflages it.

4. A black door can frame out a space: It's almost like looking
through a piece of artwork!

5. Best one yet -- They hide fingerprints!!

We want to know YOUR thoughts.
Be sure and leave a comment telling us if this new fad will stick around or not!!

The Skinny on Vent Hoods

If you could pick one element from the kitchen
to be the "focal point" what would you pick?

We like to think the vent hood is the "fireplace of the kitchen". Similar to how the fireplace is the focal point of a family room…
the vent hood can really set the stage for an incredible kitchen.

There are so many options how there…
how do you know what is the right one for you??

We are breaking it down to 3 different types for YOU. Check it out.

The WOOD Vent Hood:
This can be done several different ways.
You can paint, stain, or faux finish these hoods.
You can carve, notch and design them however you please.
See more of this project HERE

These are two of our favorite wood vent hoods that we have completed in our clients homes. Our favorites are to create a geometric repetition in the design and
use paint to accent this showstopper piece.

The HIDDEN Ventilation:
If you took a quick glance at this stove top, you would have no idea there was a
"vent hood" even in this kitchen.

But look closely -- It is carefully stored within the island and can pop up for needed use and then released back down… unseen!! Shocker.
This one is made by Frigidaire.

Lastly.. The METAL Vent Hood.
Stainless steel -- This particular project completed by TCI used a glass and metal
vent hood to produce a modern, stunning result.

These hoods come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Some are mixed with glass for added difference.

So what do YOU think? What's the HOOD for you??

Summer Whites : Incorporating the most simple color

What is better during the summer than a cool clean look??

WHITE is the best color to incorporate.

It is clean, simple, bright, light, airy…. and much more.

How do you incorporate it correctly??
Read on to find out!
These furniture pieces from Vanguard and Bernhardt are perfect accent pieces to add to your home. You can also add a pop of color to these for an additional interest. OR you can choose to create a simple monochrome color palette.
These light fixtures from Robert Abbey are amazing
statement pieces to add to a white palette.

Client Project - Design Delivered: Online Design

We have another amazing Design Delivered project to share with you!

If you aren't familiar with this package, be sure to read all about it on our website here! It is a great way to be very involved in your project and implement your own DIY touches!

We have done everything from children's rooms (see here) to this full, chic family room, complete with artwork and accessories!

This client wanted to incorporate a slate blue color with
yellow or orange for her color scheme.
We were able to use a neutral base of gray to create a good foundation color.

The furniture pieces are kid friendly-sturdy pieces
 while also being aesthetically pleasing!

The part  most clients love is the "accessory map" showing
where and how to place all accessories.
Our motto -- "Less is More" comes into play here in the accessory game

Our goal is to leave no questions in your head and a
completely designed room for the end product!!

Client Project: Modern Master Bath Remodel

You may have seen this post last week if you follow us on
Facebook or Twitter! (If you don't … you probably should!! ;)

We are knee deep in this awesome MASTER bathroom
We LOVE the direction this is going.

The cobalt blue, grays, whites and black color ways are bold, contemporary and striking.
This master bath is a combination of textures, tiles and new ideas.

This house is also undergoing a remodel in their secondary bath. Pulling in a bright orange to complement the gray blue/black tile is an excellent combination.
With the brushed nickel finishes, these fixtures and accessories
pop off the bold wall paint.
Today we stopped by to view to project mid-construction!!
The custom tile shower with niche is coming along great!

We can't wait to see the finished project!!

A Day in the Life -- Client Installation

Client installations are always our favorite part of a project.
It's where we get to see everything come to life!

But they aren't always as glamorous as one would think ;)

Our day started HERE: Looks glamorous right?!

But quickly turned to manual labor! ;)
We wouldn't have it any other way!

This chic high rise started out like this she we began this project….

And was transformed to this in the end!!
(we are still training the draperies with tie backs!)

The textures and lush fabrics really made this concept. The client wanted depth, chic, and sophisticated… yet livable for her and her husband.

The large faux leather ottoman from Bernhardt and deep comfy sofa from Vanguard is a perfect place to kick your feet up without worrying about ruining your new furniture!

This little window view of Uptown Dallas is perfect for these straight lined chairs.

And no project is complete without a few needed accessories!

None of this would be possible without our awesome install
 crew from Precision Delivery!

How did this all come to life??
Check out a few of our presentation layouts
throughout the process below:

After it is all said and done is when we sit back and
enjoy the glamorous new finished project!
