Contemporary Home Office Remodel

A home office...what do YOU use a space like this for? Work, emails, crafts, storage....the list goes on and on. But the one thing everyone wants as they spend time in a space such as this is to feel happy, light and clean.

We think we were able to accomplish all of these things in our most recent completed project...this contemporary home office with a slate blue and orange color palette. The custom built-in cabinet was painted in a coordinating grey-blue and given a light umber glaze to accentuate the cabinetry lines.

The writing desk from Hekman is a perfect base to this light, colorful room. It is paired with an executive swivel chair from Sam Moore that incorporated our slate blue color. The guest chair, from Vanguard, is upholstered in a multi colored fabric that brings our color palette together.
The custom cornice boards with unique nailhead design was made by Kemtex here in Dallas, along with the window seat cushion and pillows. Adorable sitting area.

The client's young daughter even has her own special place in this home office;) We used Global View's orange "Petal Power" wall decor to make her little space her own. She even has her own desk and custom ottoman that pulls in all the bright orange!

The orange and cream rug is also a beautiful Global Views find that really gives the room that perfect punch of bold pattern. See the clock on the side wall? It was made by a made named George Nelson who was an American industrial designer, and one of the founders of American Modernism. While Director of Design for the Herman Miller furniture company both Nelson, and his design studio, George Nelson Associates, Inc., designed much of the 20th century's most iconic modernist furniture.

Now what you've all been waiting for...a before and after image to "wow" you!

Fireplace Designs and Decor

The fireplace, a center focal point of most living rooms....why not start here when deciding to give your room a facelift? When you change the focal point of the room...everything seems more fresh, clean and well designed. A "fireplace design".

We are doing more and more fireplaces daily! This is a concept photo for a clean lined - stacked stone fireplace for a client...

And here is the impressive "before" and "after"! The mantel is being installed this week ;)
For a more bold and architectural fireplace surround, check out this installation from our photoshoot last week!
While the architecture of the fireplace most definitely makes the biggest impact structurally as well as visually, many times the mantel decor can accentuate the impressive lines of the fireplace.

Symmetry vs Asymmetrical
Start with a large object in the center, then place pairs of objects on either side. They don’t have to be identical, just related. Symmetry doesn’t have to mean stiff — the organic shapes of branches and seedpods keep this arrangement casual.

An asymmetrical arrangement harmonizes objects of different shapes and sizes. Balance a tall, large object with several smaller ones. Nestle the assemblage tightly together to increase its visual weight, and overlap shapes to create layers. A similar color palette gives unrelated objects a theme.

 Minimalistic
There is always something elegant and striking about a simplistic design. Don’t be afraid to “not clutter”

Do you have any great ideas or images from your fireplace design? Be sure and comment to tell us all about it!

Pendant Craze

Some of our favorite trade-only and retail pendants....adding light to a space affects the ambiance of a room, but adding a unique fixture transforms the entire direction!

Stunning TCI Project

We are excited to share with you, our loyal TCI followers, one of newest completed projects! Be sure and follow us on Pinterest and Facebook to see more great installations!

This formal living room greets you as you walk through the beautiful entry foyer
We wanted the backs of lounge chairs to be something really special to be inviting to guests. The soft lines of the gold, cream, and black fabric turned out to be stunning.

The custom sofa and pillows was made through one of the furniture lines that we carry, Taylor King

Beautiful Floor Lamps from Arteriors

Custom drapery flanked the tall, large windows.

Contrasting fabric on the lounge chairs always help to add interest to the design. The casegood pieces in this room are also from a furniture line that TCI carries, CTH Sherrill.

If you caught our Accessories post yesterday, you saw that adding in the "icing on the cake" is one way to bring the concept of a space together. These great little pieces from Global Views add texture and color to the cocktail table.

Do you ever have an empty corner? We used a mother-of-pearl floor vase filled with cream floral pieces to take up a hollow corner and make it beautiful next to a gorgeous cabinet piece.

Moving throughout the house, we also designed the family room. This space used to be a very dark room with very little natural light. We worked some magic and brought as much lighting as possible to help brighten the cozy space.

The custom artwork from our favorite art gallery La Montage.

Once again, the custom upholstery was done by Taylor King.

Need some help sprucing up your favorite room in your house? Let us help! ;)

Accessories...Icing on the Cake

We've been putting the finishing touch on several projects over the past few weeks and the last piece of the puzzle that always brings everything together is the accessories.... the "icing on the cake".

Whether it's a bowl, vase, unique art piece....that is always the best way to punch up the color and bring the concept of the space to life! One of our "go-to" accessory stops is Global Views... a to-the-trade line that we carry that offers exceptional designs!

Industrial Style Defined

Industrial Design didn't use to be a style, but today we find this unique appreciate for objects and character in the multi-million dollar mansions all the way to the small loft apartments.

"Its lack of symmetry and the visual appeal that lies within utilitarian surfaces, stripped architecture and salvaged objects is what most love about this age. " - Houzz

We are designing an office space and apartment loft today that follows these Industrial style guidelines to the "T". Here are a few "pointers" to help YOU out!

5 Industrial Office Tips:
(let us help you create this look through our Design Delivered Service for you DIY'ers out there!)
1. The mix of wood and metal is a crucial piece of creating the Industrial look.
2. Use oversized lighting to off balance the design. Circa Lighting has an exceptional selection of Industrial Lighting.
3. Use and create simplistic, clean lines. We offer to-the-trade furniture selections such as Drexel Heritage that carry many of these same looks!
4. Select pieces that you can appreciate each individually
5. Minimalistic - declutter as much as possible

5 Industrial Loft Tips:
1. Stone tables and flooring create a clean, sleek appearance.
2. Look UP - think about unique appliqués for the ceiling.
3. Design per your style. Industrial design can easily be feminine or masculine depending on whom you are designing for.
4. Create grouping areas with unique furniture pieces.
5. Don't forget about the lighting. Most always, the lighting will set the tone for the design.

Let us help YOU find your own unique style.
