Restoration Hardware... for less~

RH look

It was everywhere!  The Restoration Hardware "Look" was all over the Las Vegas Market-
but the good news is... the hefty price tag was missing!

Many manufacturers have jumped on the bandwagon with the style of:

*bleached woods, rustic elegance, chunky legs,
*worn textiles, metal elements and classic design

I have to say, I appreciate sooooo many looks of Interior Design and I wish
I could have an abundance of empty rooms to create masterpieces in all different styles.

This particular newcomer had me swooning....

Noir Furniture is based in Los Angeles... but lucky for us,
there is a local showroom that carries their product!

Just a hint of nailhead:)

Have you seen these chairs somewhere?

Great lines... classic look

Can't decide if I like the headboard or the light fixture more?

This chair has been a favorite chair of mine for years... again, here it is for less!

I want the lamp... period

No worries using this table top made of zinc

One more great find with a similar look was the showroom of

which has something for everyone

A bit more transitional... great handle detail on the back of the chairs

Terrific light fixtures

Peek behind the dining set to the bookshelf unit

The idea here is less color and more texture within your furnishings...
calm, retreat like feel

It may not be for everyone, but if you love it... go for it!

Let me know if you've added Vintage Chic into your look~
or...would like to!

Until next time,

Feizy Finds: Area Rug Relief!

I knew it was going to be a good trip to Las Vegas Market when the first showroom
I walked into had these!!!

Even more exciting is the fact that I carry this line (and receive good pricing:) of rugs by Feizy.
I have to say, I have not been pushing this brand lately because all my samples
are a few years old... and -
they make me tired!

Not any more! I'm ready to update my line with fresh new finds and here's the kicker...

#1 These specifically are power loomed with a silk blend
(which I typically never buy- but starting now!)

#2 Stocked in Dallas and pricepoint is superb!

I'm happy to say that my clientle is following my lead and stretching out
of their comfort zones...just a bit:).

You can add a transitional rug in a more traditional setting!

Don't forget area rugs in kid's spaces for a pop of color

Gray is the new beige... these would be perfect in your new family room!

Guidelines for Selecting A Room Sized Rug
Standard Size Rug
Approximate Room Dimensions
3' 0" x 5' 0" - Size Area Rug
For Room Size:
4' 6" x 6' 6" to 5' 0" x 7' 0" & larger
5' 0" x 8' 0" - Size Area Rug
For Room Size:
6' 6" x 9' 6" to 7' 0" x 10' 0" & larger
8' 0" x 10' 0"-Size Area Rug
For Room Size:
9' 6" x 11' 6" to 10' 0" x 12' 0" & larger
9' 0" x 12' 0" -Size Area Rug
For Room Size:
10' 6" x 13' 6" to 11' 0" x 14' 0"" & larger
10' 0" x 15' 0 -Size Area Rug
For Room Size:
11' 6" x 16' 6" to 12' 0" x 17' 0" & larger
  • The above sizes are obviously for reference only, simply because; although rugs may come in standardized sizes, rooms do not.
  • Also, keep in mind that the above chart is helpful if you want to follow the 18" to 24" of bare floor showing around a room sized rug "rule of thumb".
  • Most people feel that 18" of bare floor is the minimum around a rug, but that there is really no maximum amount of bare floor that should show.
  • If it is a very small room (such as a foyer or entry way) you can get away with having less than 18" of bare floor showing around the rug - possibly just 8".

Here's a Feizy rug in action~ one of my favorite rooms we installed a few years ago.
The transitional design adds that "twist" to her classic look!

Success!

Remember, we have hand tufted and hand knotted as well...
something for everyone...

Lots of Wins in Vegas!

Many great surprises for Dot, Barbara and I at the IDS Conference in Vegas!
Our local DFW Chapter of the Interior Design Society
won not one... but two... awards this year!

We won Best Public Relations (with our work on our Jonathan's Place Project)
and Best Idea for our Summer Business Blast series! Woo hoo!
Great work by great members!

Do I look surprised below? The CEO and President of
IDS announced that
I was selected as the newest National Board Member.... wow!
Moving on up....:)

Pictured with Pam White  (CEO/President), Nicole Yee (Board Member/San Fran), Margi Kyle (past President of Nat'l board) and
Tasha Robinson (Board Member/Atlanta)

On to my hostess duties! I mentioned that I was the Hostess for the Conference
and when I got there, I noticed a small problem.
With my knee issue, I could not get off the stage!
Ms. High Maintenance asked nicely for a solution... and viola! Done!

I fulfilled my hostess duties... and then fired my friend Barbara from the photographer's role!

More highlights from the day at the Las Vegas Market... a blast from the past!

Jackie Van Tobel... Minutes Matter Expert and Fabric Extraordinaire

And Monica Pederson from HGTV's Designed to Sell and HGTV Dream Home Giveaway...
as nice as she is pretty:)

I can't wait to show you the products and new lines I found... stay tuned over
the next few days for a Fresh Look!

P.S. In addition to Awards, I did win $130:)

Until next time,

Who knew that two twelve year olds could teach me something about design...
graphic design that it is!

IKEA in Disguise

You know I can't go too long without mentioning Nailhead-

I saw this little redo on the blog, Little Green Notebook, and had to share!

#1. Eyes are caught on this stylish piece of furniture, yet inflated price prohibits the purchase...
(Visconti cabinet from Bungalow 5 for $2300)

#2. Innovation steps in and figures out an affordable alternative.

Drumroll please...

Do it yourself!

This was posted by Mary Anne of 10 Rooms and the base cabinet is from none other than...
IKEA!  It is the Besta chest available to you for a whopping $125...wow!

Love, love, love...

inspiration and then we'll hire a handyman!

Until next time,

Off to Las Vegas: Facts and Furniture

I'm off to Vegas!

I'm leaving today to attend the National Leadership Conference for the Interior Design Society
with a few of my colleagues and it should be...

1. Educational
2. Interesting

... let's just leave it at that!

On a more exciting note, the National IDS President asked me to be the
"Hostess" of the Conference,

so I've been practicing "my non limp" strut so I can get up on the stage
without my knee giving out!

I'm excited to learn great ideas to bring back to our local IDS Chapter-

Then I'm off to Las Vegas Furniture Market where I have the first look at the up and
coming design finds to put in your homes and offices!

Wish me luck!

My visit to Young Frankenstein and all that Gothic decor!

So maybe it wasn't Wicked, but it sure was fun!

Thank you Jenny and Kathy for taking Kristen and I on a double date to the

(crutches in the car, but I hobbled my way through it!)

We started out at The Porch on Henderson Ave in Dallas... yummy-

 Cocktails first....
(my signature Grey Goose Dirty Martini... after hours of course:)

(Here's a quick host/hostess idea for you to have your drink embellishments handy!)

Kathy and Jenny had the Crab Cake Salad and...

Kristen and I went in for the House Favorite... Smoked Brisket Enchiladas

On to the set. As I watched the musical, of course my eyes drifted to the stage decor and I
was reminded of a huge Dallas design trend that hit strong about 10 years ago-
especially in the suburb McMansions.

Medieval furnishings are still prevalent and there are plenty of homeowners that go for the Gothic look.

Typical Gothic arch and large stone walls

I know I've seen this window treatments in a Frisco model home!

Heavy wood and metal chain

Carved furniture...

Do you know someone with this bedroom suite?

 or this chair?

or maybe you'd like to place any order for this master suite?

I'm game if you are!
