HOW TO...Keep you Organized

The blog world is buzzing with tons of organization ideas,
yet implementing is another story in my case.

I spent the afternoon helping watching and directing
my friend Patty as she cleaned out her closet and returned
home ready to overhaul my own.

Then I sat down... and now I'm here.

Get organized but keep reading to learn-

HOW TO...Keep Organized
It's a new year, full of new ideas and most of all...resolutions!
How about organization?? Is that one of your resolutions?!

Check out these ideas BHG put out for those like us that love to organize!

1. Separate with Stylish Items
How many stacks of napkins, fabric, or papers do you have that need to be sorted? Go to your nearest office supply store and find a cute clamp for all your organizational needs ;)

2. Visable Storage
If you can see it...FIX IT! Take a trip to Target...buy some clear crates and get to sorting.
You'll be happy you did... I was:)

3. Stand up Straight
Everything looks more organized when it is neatly stacked. Use two pieces of fabric and some beans insert to make a make-shift book end!

4. Ledge Logic
Why not make use of the side of that wall shelf?? A running calendar awaits you.

5. Handle Space
I don't know about your house, but items like scarfs, ties and belts get quickly tangled and thrown on the floor around here! Find a favorite handle at Home Depot for an easy storage solution!

HOW TO...Choose Furniture for your Living Room

HOW TO.....Choose Furniture for your Living Room.

Where do we start every time we begin a new living room project? Well...you ask? Actually, we are sourcing furniture for a new living room project today!

Read on to see a few tips we have complied from Pottery Barn and around the design world when designing a living room and "how-to" make the right selections!

1. Start with the Basics:
Every living room needs a sofa, coffee table or ottoman, and lighting. After you decide on these main items, then it is easy to add lounge chairs, side tables and accessories. Just like icing on the cake!

2. Avoid the Trends
Stay classy...you don't want to make the investment of nice, new furniture, only to realize it has that "dated" look 5 years later. We like to say, stick with clean lines and classic shapes for your larger furniture pieces and make a statement in your art, colors and accessories ...
or a few smaller furniture pieces.
3. Do the Math
Get out that tape measure! Once you know what type of furniture you like, now it is time to make sure it fits! Use painters tape or a scaled drawing to draw out the pieces of furniture and be sure everything you love will fit correctly. What is worse that buying, loving and investing in a piece of furniture, for it to only come in and not fit?!

4. Stick to a Plan
Once you have made all your decisions, stay true to your plan. It's easy to second, triple guess yourself. But don't worry...you did good! Bring your design together with great lighting and accessories,
and step back to admire!

We specialize in custom furniture, so call us to help out ;)!!

A Unique Furniture Piece: Indoor Swing

If you could choose just about anything to put in your living room ...
for comfort... what would you choose?!

Well we had a special request from a client recently...a SWING
Kind of like a hammock, but a more modern, sophisticated spin on it.

We love when our clients expand our creativity and stretch our imagination!

Happy New Year... In Pantone Colors!! Pantone Color of the Year - Emerald Green

Happy New Year!!!

We, at TCI, wish you a great New Years Day and hope to brighten it a bit with this
new color of the year by Pantone: Emerald Green!

"Lively. Radiant. Lush...A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well being, balance and harmony" - Pantone

This jewel tone color is a great basis for pattern, texture and exceptional design!!

The past 5 or more years, the "color of the year" has been something bright, happy and NEW. Who would have put emerald green in a home design 10 years ago? We would have gotten scoffed at!!

But now...pull out that emerald lamp baby, we've got COLOR!

You'll even start seeing it around you in fashion...and the ocean, tropical vacation anyone??!

Read on to see a few inspiration photos with Emerald green in it!

A pop in the pillows...

Or entire cabinetry units painted...bring on the green!

From nurseries...

To accent chairs, we've got color accounted for. (Courtney especially loved this image because it is Baylor colors ;)

And lastly... continuing with one of our favorite patterns...the chevron - in GREEN!

To kick off this new year in style, we are in the beginning stages of a new gameroom for a client, and we are proposing to use what else....GREEN!

We will let you know how it turns out ;)

Have a very Happy New Years!

Looking back on a Colorful Year!

Before looking forward to 2013, I wanted to share one of the highlights of
this year... thanks to these three.

It's a highlight based on the fact that memories were created and the simple
joy I felt by watching my A's have such a great time together.

We road tripped to Austin a few weeks ago, where we participated in a 5k called
where basically you are pelted with paint while you are running.
Why did I agree to do this??? Hmmm...

Feeding of my need of sharing color in everyday life,
this took it to another level!

Doesn't get much better than this!

Add a bit of color to your everyday and you'll be surprised too!

Personally and professionally, it has been a year of growth for
me and I landed on my own two feet!
(Luck or by design?:)

So take a moment to think about what brought happiness to your
year and pump it up for 2013!
