It's no lie that TCI likes the color blue.
While we have a ongoing portfolio of color after color in all our clients homes, we do have quite a few clients that choose to use the color blue in some form or fashion!

Why?

We are looking into the psychology of the color BLUE today. There are many articles written on this subject!

Color-Blocking Confidence

COLOR BLOCKING:
The art of mixing two different colors in solid fashions to create a completely new design.

This was a fad that started in the fashion industry and took off strong!!

It took a little while, but it has now begun to creep into the interior industry and we are loving the freedom to create with this new thought process.

But how do you use "color blocking" correctly?
Well we are here to tell you 5 quick ways to ensure the best:

1. Start Small:
Start with items that can be moved around, such as chairs, tables and accessories.

2. Mix bright colors with a dark neutral color:
This pops the accent with a grounding color

3. Create a geometric pattern with several colors as a motif or accent strip:
Can't commit to one color? Try them all in an interesting pattern

4. Use different hues of the same color:
Choose this simpler solution that still is perceived as color blocking when you are afraid to mix too many colors.

5. Pair a bright accent wall with a light neutral wall:
This will allow your accents to shine

Are you ready to COLOR BLOCK?

Rockin' the Color Block!

Should I take my son's advice in regards to fashion?
Especially when he is extremely vocal in his opinion?

My soft spoken 17 year old called me out for wearing Emerald green
jeans and a Cobalt blue top... he said I didn't coordinate match at all.

GASP!

Little did he know that I was color blocking with green, blue and black-
my boots and necklace. Little did he know that I color block in my
interior design work frequently, yet it was highly amusing to listen to him!

Sometimes, we steal it from fashion-

However, this gal is rockin' the colorblock- way better than me!

and... the green and blue look sassy on

A great definition from Apartment Therapy:
"While color blocking has been a big trend in fashion for quite a while, it's just starting to take off in the world of decor. The idea is to use contrasting blocks of color, and the same rules tend to apply to both fashion and interiors: stick to just two or three bold colors, and colors in the same family tend to work best together."

Here are some great examples from Apartment Therapy's blog:

Enjoy the "color block"!!
