Mixing Cream, White, and Gray ...and It's OK!

Mixing neutrals has long been discussed and sometimes decided as a faux pas.

But we are here to tell you that in today's day and age it is NOT.

As said many times before, TCI prides ourselves in creating beautiful designs that are COMFORTABLE, DURABLE and livable!

One way we do that is by creating color schemes that are easy on the eye.

We love to combine neutrals such as cream, white and gray because ... it really is OK!

By painting the walls a calming cream and popping the windows with crisp white drapes and adding gray to the fabrics on the furniture, we quickly turn a room that could seem scattered and busy into a serene place.

We love incorporating light fixtures into color schemes. These beautiful white cone pendants are the icing on this gray and cream kitchen.

Neutral artwork can also be a wonderful way to make a wall look clean, crisp and well decorated without overpowering the space.

One way to spice things up is to add natural wood tones to an otherwise neutral room.

How do you prefer neutral design?!

Client Project: A Renovation in the Works!

Its time again to showcase other client IN PROGRESS project!

TCI to the rescue for a couple who is ditching traditional and leaning into California Casual with a transitional twist. A whole lot of textures going on in this plan!

The demo has begun as we are gutting the fireplace wall and an outdated built-in fireplace wall to a seamless, clean and
updated cased cabinet... complete with glass doors featuring the storefront window look.

With wood trimmed cabinets on the bottom portion of the built in, we are able to create closed cabinets that aid in storage needs.

Whether young kids, pets or just plain junk.... everyone's got it and TCI
is here to find a way to hide the mess!
The black trimmed glass cabinets will be a beautiful addition to this brick fireplace in the center. We love the classic look the black panes will bring with the brick adjacent.

BEFORE:

DURING:

Adding a rustic wood mantel to the existing fireplace help create the tone of transitional throughout the home from the center out.

Get ready... black framed bookcases coming for you...

One bit of beauty that we like to add in unexpected ways is speciality trim design on cabinet doors. Check out this exciting pattern:

What will the rest of the room encompass?? Take a look at our furniture board!
With durable fabrics, sealed finishes and comfortable floor coverings, we are ready to bring this house beauty with a livable-sense.

Client Project: Highland Park Spec Home- Go Pale (in hardwood floors!)

Who says light wood is "out-of-date" or "old"??
Not US. WE love the way a pale floored home screams new, modern and in style.

We recently completed this spec home with all natural light wood floors for a stunning result!

What makes them so great?! Here's the top 5 reasons WHY:

Space Expander -
The space seems endless when the floors are light and ongoing!

Coordinate with Walls:
Choose light paint for the walls as well to open the home up to a light and airy feel

Becomes the Perfect Canvas:
With a seemingly "blank" canvas in a light hardwood floor .. your color and texture options for the furniture and fabrics are unlimited

Creates Informal Functional Spaces:
Darker hardwoods seem to give off a more formal and structured feel, while the light wood makes you want to sit back and relax

Mix it Up:
Don't be afraid of the dark wood though! Bring it in around the home in other places like we did in the spec home kitchen!

Go Pale!

FIX your Front Door for Fall

It's that time of year again! Time to think about fancying your front porch up for the fall season.

This is one of my favorite parts about decorating for fall. Your front door can say so much, its the first vision that greets your guests and it sets the stage for fall festivities.

But there are definitely ways TO DO a front door and ways NOT to do it.

We've compiled a list of our favorite 4 elements of a stunning fall front porch for you to start your brains thinking with.

1. A perfect wreath:
Not something gussy with 15 cornucopias nestled in it.... but something unique, different, yet simplistic.

2. Pumpkin Stacking:
You can never have enough pumpkins, and we love the look of stacked pumpkins around your front door, in your flower beds and around!

3. A "Setting":
Creating a small set of fall if space allows is always unique. We love using hay bails, homemade banners and natural textures

4. Be Different:
Think outside of the box as this home has by being asymmetrical and creating height to their design

Happy Beginning to Fall!

Client Project: In Progress Coastal Kitchen Remodel

We love seeing the "before and after" pictures of projects, but what about the "before and DURING" images??

Well get ready for an eye full! This incredible client has taken on quite the remodel and we know it will pay off in the end.

We use concept photos like this one to help clients visualize the end result we are shooting for!

Take a look at these before and DURING pictures and fasten your seatbelt as we reveal some of our design plans at the end of this post!

BEFORE: Looking at the Range side of the kitchen

DURING: Wall and cabinets removed and plumbing gutted

BEFORE: Looking into the new dining area

DURING: Wall and old existing server bar removed

BEFORE: Old Wet Bar

DURING: Making room for new wet bar!

So what are we going to do with this current mess??

Turn it into something incredible!
Here is our vision:

This floor plan may help orient you from the pictures above. This shows what walls are being removed and how we are making this an open and bright plan.

Our color scheme vision is a "coastal chic" topic. Warm grays, white and rich navy in the making.

To add a touch of rustic to the coastal we love this idea of a barn sliding door into the pantry with a chalkboard on one side.
A few of our elevations to design:
The new and improved range wall - with many specialty drawers for perfect convenience

The island is equipped with many useful drawers as well. Perfect for the organized homeowner.

And not to forget the new wine bar. With floating shelves and a full tile backsplash wall... whats not to love?!

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for a full reveal of this complete remodel!
