The Ease of Glamour - Living Luxurious

At Traci Connell Interiors, we make it our GOAL, and our JOB to be sure to deliver
a quality product to our clients.

What does that mean? Well, we are here to tell you.

Many/most of our clients have pets, children, or simply like to entertain. We recognize the lifestyle and want to make it doable WHILE having a gorgeous interior home.

We have many ways we can incorporate durable products into our design.

(FiberSeal fabric protectant on sofa)

Our Kravet rep was in our office with these BEAUTIFUL fabrics. Not only were they beautiful, but listen to this -- These indoor fabrics had over 50,000 double rubs (fancy way of saying they will withstand ... a lot) , but they are so soft and pretty and when used INDOORS make for the perfect combo of glamorous and durable.
Better yet was the lush feel of the navy outdoor fabric on the left... the texture was super soft and if it can withstand rain and mildew... then certainly sticky hands.

Stay tuned for more resources we use daily in our design to make your home
more livable and while keeping that luxurious look... your friends will never know!

The "Secret Hiding Place" Playroom

Did you catch our carpet squares post this morning?? Check out the rest of this space we completed in this awesome playroom!

We recently completed this incredible playroom for a couple of brothers that wasn't QUITE complete without the "hideaway" closet nearby.

We all see those adorable projects on Pinterest and think... how hard can that be? Tune in to find if we have a Pinterest WIN or a Pinterest FAIL!

DIY: Clothesline ABC Card Hangers

Watch as we convert this small Audio/Visual Closet to a playroom hideout for two young boys!

Some very detailed, picture only, instructions!

All we need are a few supplies!

And some Tylenol maybe?!

After measuring, drilling and crawling around in a hot little closet we go from boring storage to a great space for imagination to run wild! Now to add paint and entry curtains!

We have to make this small space just as fabulous as the adjacent Playroom!

Would you say it was a Pinterest WIN?

Innately Durable Kitchen Seating

Kitchens are the most used, most messy, most beautiful, and many times most focal point of a home.

Which means ...
It gets a LOT of use.

While we can use faux leathers many times to make beautiful furniture pieces, there is one type of seating that is wipeable, stain proof and inherently durable.

Plastic and Metal Seating:

Metal seating can come in a variety of colors. From gunmetal, to painted colored metal, to bright metals... what used to be a farmhouse classic has now transformed to a modern, clean lined vision to keep kitchens cleaner!

Another beautiful way to showcase good design that won't fall victim to ketchup stains or red wine is to set your table with plastic. Yes... you heard us right... plastic. Check out this design below from Houzz that gives us a great picture of plastic ;)

Acrylic: We LOVE. This clear backed beauty creates ease, style and chic design for many different styles.

Whether traditional, modern, or a little in between this acrylic chair look will be able to stay clean for years to come.

And guess what -- acrylic comes in COLORS too! To fit any color scheme or design. These tips are our tricks to keeping a space glamorous with EASE.

At TCI, that is our goal... and mission.

Paint, Paint, Durable Paint. And Multiple Colors on One Wall?!

We are here to answer that question!!

Why paint your walls multiple colors??  Because that goes against every ounce of our being to actually say that ;)

But First - Scrubbable Paint: Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, and Behr all have options that allow your walls to be wiped clean and used as often as needed ;)

Well there is a time and place for everything ... and multiple wall paint has it's place!

1. Delineate a Space -
Choosing colors that coordinate with the color scheme and "arranging" them on the wall can help to make the room "understood"

2. Draw the Eye Up
Do you have tall ceilings or want to accentuate the height of the room? Paint the top half a special color!

3. Create a Unique Space:
This would be perfect or a nook or kids bedroom.... The ombre look is all the rage!

4. Set the "Scene" -
This particular room was turned into "story time" by a faux chair rail effect using paint

5. Accentuate Proportions -
Without the paint in this room, it would seem very small. By using bright colors in unique places, it brings out larger spaces that you didn't know existed!

We like this idea -- but definitely only when following these rules!!

Bringing the Ease into Faucets and Plumbing Fixtures... Glamorously

Lately, we have been selecting plumbing fixture after plumbing fixture!

And our first decision is always... how can we make this selection glamorous AND useful?

Some of the top brands have come out with touchless technology that is invigorating:
This idea allows you to use your kitchen sink without contaminating the handle with raw meat or a messy chocolate covered hand.

Our 2nd question is always ... what will the finish be?
Our current top two finishes are POLISHED NICKEL and CHROME.

(the Delta Vero Collection)

According to Houzz, read on the find out the difference between the two finishes!

POLISHED NICKEL:

If you like a smooth, shiny finish but are tired of chrome, try polished nickel.
It's darker than chrome, and with different levels of lighting it can appear to change in color.

(an American Standard Faucet from our visit to Ferguson for a custom Highland Park build!)

(a Brizo Faucet from our visit to Ferguson for a custom Highland Park build!)

Advantages: Easy to clean. A durable finish. A great alternative to brushed nickel.

Disadvantages: More expensive. It's hard to find matching accessories or fixtures for it.

Styles it works with: Like chrome, it looks great in a variety of settings: modern,
contemporary, traditional and eclectic.

CHROME:

HOW TO: Get organized and STAY organized

The blog world is buzzing with tons of organization ideas, yet implementing is another story in my case.

Get organized but keep reading to learn-

HOW TO...Keep Organized
It's a new year, full of new ideas and most of all...resolutions!
How about organization?? Is that one of your resolutions?!

Check out these ideas BHG put out for those like us that love to organize!

1. Separate with Stylish Items
How many stacks of napkins, fabric, or papers do you have that need to be sorted? Go to your nearest office supply store and find a cute clamp for all your organizational needs ;)

2. Visable Storage
If you can see it...FIX IT! Take a trip to Target...buy some clear crates and get to sorting.
You'll be happy you did... I was:)

3. Stand up Straight
Everything looks more organized when it is neatly stacked. Use two pieces of fabric and some beans insert to make a make-shift book end!

4. Ledge Logic
Why not make use of the side of that wall shelf?? A running calendar awaits you.

5. Handle Space
I don't know about your house, but items like scarfs, ties and belts get quickly tangled and thrown on the floor around here! Find a favorite handle at Home Depot for an easy storage solution!

Happy Spring Cleaning!!

The client wanted a "retreat" in their home, that was all their own. Away from work, kiddos and TV!
So we created just that.

With a few drawings and elevations we were able to lay out the space just right.
And then see the full package come together! The beautiful blue-grey, cream and
ivory really brought this look together.

We used a washable bedding set that will be perfect in case those kiddos or puppies sneak in. The crypton fabric headboard protects their bed for years to come.
Even throughout an online design project, we can continue to uphold our standard of livable luxury and durable design.

We loved the whole outcome! Contact us to help make your bedroom (or any room) a perfect retreat!
