What's your STYLE

We get this question a.LOT.
How do I know what my "style" is? What IS my style?

Well that is OUR job to help narrow in to what your "style" really is, or what you like to see in your home.

If you are curious as to what you might be drawn to,
check out these questions and tips to give yourself a head start!

1. Consider the mood you want to create at home.
Do you want minimal, clean and open, or warm and cozy? This says a lot about the color palette you may be drawn to, or types of accessories you'd use in your home. Also, the lighting plays a huge factor in this category.

2. List the sort of things you’d choose if price were no object.
What are you drawn to? Shiny and flashy or rustic and vintage? When you take money out of the equation, many times you can get to the root of the "style" you are going for.
(TCI project!)

3. Look to your wardrobe.
Believe it or not, many people dress like they decorate. Are your clothes simplistic and solid, or multi-colored and decked out?

4. Pay equal attention to what you don’t like.
This is very important. Most people can tell us what they DON'T like, but have a hard time telling us what they DO like. What you don't like is equally important because we base many things off this.
(TCI project!)

Good luck style-hunting!

Modern Uptown Loft - Big Reveal!

We are so excited to share with you our most recent photographed project!!

Last summer we had the privilege of working with an amazing client
through a long-distance design process! They lived in El Paso, and their daughter was going to be moving to Dallas to attend Medical School here.
So we got everything in tip top shape and ready to go for her when she arrived.

In one week, we completed a remodel of this uptown loft,
AND furniture installation and design!
What a reward it was to stand back and see the result!

After seeing a few color scheme options we proposed, the client decided
on the bold turquoise, black and white scheme for her main living areas.
Ahhh. It turned out so crisp and clean.

The wallpaper from ID Collection was the icing on the cake for the entry wall.

This gorgeous chair from Cyan Design was well worth the wait!
After being backordered, ;(
it finally found it's home in this perfect spot.

Each little nook was well thought out. With an eclectic mix of turquoise
and metal / glass, this view from the loft is stunning with this custom
painted Vanguard console.

Even more of a show stopper is the dining room. With the custom blown
glass wall plates from Viz Glass and turquoise chandelier from Cyan Design ...
This dining room can't wait to be used for a dinner party ;)

Upstairs, the client went for a magenta color scheme that we adore!
This "loft" space is used for her studying and relaxing. The custom wall mural f
rom JF Fabrics is the backdrop to the amazing space.

In her Master Bedroom, we went for a more calming feel to the magenta
and black color scheme by bringing in white bedding, and drapery.

The custom artwork from La Montage's artist, Blakely Bering,
combined all the colors beautifully!

Downstairs, the guest bedroom is nothing but FUN, FUN and Adorable
The citrine and cobalt color scheme was the perfect touch to a small space.

The drapery and art really made this room come to life!

We couldn't be more excited about how this Uptown Loft turned out
and hope that our sweet client enjoys it everyday!

Living Room Remodel: Create a fresh look in small details

HAPPY MONDAY!

In order to start the week off right, we wanted to share the inside details
from our installation last week!

Have you wanted to "spruce" your space without changing the backbone of your room?
One of our recent installations is a great example of how to do just that!

It's all in the details!....

...to create a beautiful space!

Take a look at how our firm accomplished this challenge for our client:

First
We started with a simple floor plan to see how much space we had to replace the cocktail table and possibly add two little bunching cubes.

Next
We knew how much space we had to work with so we began pulling options that would work with our clients existing sofa and armoire chest.

Lastly
We added new and fresh art and accessories to really change the whole feel of the room.
We layered a mirror in front of the musical art along with wood accents and ceramic birds ;)

Think creatively: A large lantern filled with books and a pop of blue in a
bird inspired plate helped to pull the look together.

Doing something out-of-the-box always is an eye catcher!

Look Up: We wallpapered the ceiling coffer of her living room and entryway.
What a WOW factor!!
So, don't forget the ceilings!

Here is a look at where we began, and what we ended with....with a few simple pieces of furniture, art and accessories!

New Project: Space in the City

Would you trade your view from Suburbia for this one?

Before I stepped foot into my client's new high rise apartment...
the answer would have been NO.

On the flip side, there is something very peaceful about surveying an
entire city in one glance-

Enter long time client, who I will affectionately call...
(for more reasons than one)

-who is moving from this house we finished in Frisco

to this high rise on McKinney Avenue in Dallas...

Not a great pic of her view, but I promise... it is killer

Naturally, we are trading her look of traditional for transitional... a bit sleek.

Not much of her current furnishings will work here,
so we will be having some fun!

Speaking of fun... check out my tape measure-
(we threw it down the trash chute on the way out of the building:)

Designing a space in a high rise apartment always
has it's challenges, but the end result is worth it.

Keep reading for some tips on designing your new space
if you are moving on up!!!

1) Be creative with your walls

*Hang your art over your bed...literally!

2) Paint, paint, paint...

*I'm not typically a fan of painting accent
walls, but in a small space it can have a large impact

3)  Add architecture

*The illuminated artwork within the molding is the focal
point in this room... (aside from the view!)

4) Less is more

*This is the time to edit your belongings. Escape the busy
city by bringing in "less stuff" and neutral furnishings
to create a tranquil setting

5) Use every inch...

*Great example of proper space planning
-seating, storage, task space, display
Love it!

Well, Carrie B., I'm excited to help you jump into this new
venture and when it is complete...

I will gladly pretend to be Samantha to help you
(and Mr. Big if he's invited)
celebrate with the perfect Cosmo!

Until next time,
