Client Project: Blast From the Past

While TCI is whipping out new projects right and left, we love to look back in the play book for past projects that still inspire and intrigue us.

One of those was this wonderful client's Starwood home in Frisco.

We completed many rooms in their home, but one of the most unique pieces is this round 3 sided ottoman in the foyer of this gorgeous home

With a button tufted 3 sided back, and a subtle tone on tone gray fabric on the back and soft gray velvet on the seat, it turned out perfect in every way.

One of the best parts that makes a big difference is the large "button" on top of the 3 sided back.

Getting the fabric pattern JUST RIGHT took some detailed planning that paid off in the end for a stunning result.

What a perfect entrance to this amazing home!

Many thanks to this wonderful long time client.

Kick your coffee table to the CURB.

Are you looking for a more versatile piece for your living room centerpiece??

These days we go back and forth between casegood coffee tables and fabric ottomans.
And many times it is a complete personal preference!

Here are a few top reasons why you might
fall in LOVE with an ottoman.

1. Soft and Comfortable. Great to prop your feet up after a long day

2. It's kid and pet friendly! With rounded, padded corners and a soft top, children don't hit their head and the dogs thinks they earned a new seat in the house!

3. Adds a pop of pattern and color to your space. Many times it brings
 the whole color scheme together!

4. It can double as a coffee table.... by adding a decorative tray for a hard surface

5. It helps to break up the wood tones around the room!
Fabric always brings a softer appearance.

Sneak peek of a NEW TCI project we are featuring later in the week!!

So what do you LOVE?

A Bench and Table all in one: The Couef!

To: Traci's Cell Phone
From: Candice the Client

Courtney and I couldn't help laughing at our client's text
message...she thought it was funny too... probably
because she knew that her BBQ sauce garnished ottoman
getting reupholstered, but hopefully her son is done
finger painting on furniture!

I teased her that we are going to add permanent
plastic to all her new furniture on the way,
and if she doesn't go for that...
Fiberseal to the rescue!

90% of the time, we specify a luxurious type vinyl for
cocktail ottoman tops when we are designing with
little ones in mind. It's indestructible.

Speaking of ottomans- take a look at one of our
new lines found in High Point...

I dig this for the practicality and it's "cuteness"

Check it out.. it has a hidden pull out table-
PERFECT for a cocktail beverage to sit.

From benches and ottomans...

To bar stools and counter stools
(my fav)....

To tables... great for space concerns and serving-

Be the first to add a Couef to your room!

Wicked: Sushi Style!

Surrounded by Sushi!

Yes, that is a sushi inspired set of ottomans complete with strips of cucumber
in the middle and a removable seaweed wrap.

So cute and versatile... and creative to boot.

I ran into this young designer at Vegas Market and it is
quite a concept she has "rolled" out... ha:).

In turn, I was craving sushi which lead me first to
Tao in Vegas
and then to
Uchiko in Austin-

Girls weekend to celebrate Avery's birthday and visit with Ashley
(yes, I had the hammer out within 15 minutes of arriving
so I could fix the crooked full length mirror in her bedroom- sigh).

We ate Pork Belly... yummy interesting
and grilled our flank steak on a hot rock...
lots of giggles at our table!

Then we were off to Wicked!

If you do not know my obsession with Wicked,
and here:)

I've seen it 5 times in the last two years...
(4 times in one year.. yikes)
London, San Fran, Dallas, New York and Austin.

(I'd like to get one more in this year:)

Back to Sushistyle which is the name of Mimi's company...

If you are "craving" something different in your space,
maybe this is the whimsy you've been looking for!

Until next time,

Pouf Craze in Vegas!

Back from Vegas!

As a national board member of the Interior Design Society,
I fulfilled my role as a speaker on a panel during the Leadership conference,
sat in a whole lot of meetings,
attended great seminars,
watched our local chapter win two prestigious awards,
gambled:),
and shopped Las Vegas Market- sigh.

I'm tired but it was well worth it!

Here's a quick trend from Vegas Market...

The Pouf!

These gems are from Surya.

Do you want to jump on the "pouf" bandwagon? Everywhere you look,
you see these "poufs"!
They make a great foot prop, ottoman, coffee table, kids bean bag,
dog bed and much more...
AND they are aesthetically pleasing!!

Have you ever considered purchasing a cocktail
ottoman instead of a coffee table?

If not, here are 4 reasons why you should!

#1 PROP... your feet! The most obvious function of using an
ottoman is to prop up those feet! Comfort is the key and why don't look you good doing it?
No wood to scratch and here's the chance to add another gorgeous fabric to your room.

#2 STORE...your stuff! Who doesn't crave more storage?
Lift the lid and keep throw blankets, kid's toys, magazines, games and extra pillows hidden away. Also a good choice with babies learning to walk... bump resistant!

#3 SIT... your buns! Extra seating is a bonus when having a crowd over. Pull the ottoman to the side and your guests will have a comfortable seat to watch the flick.

#4 REST... your glass! Using trays on ottomans is really no big deal! They give you one more place to use a great accessory and it is perfect for holding your drinks and snacks.

For style and function in your most used room, give me a call!

*CSN Stores contacted me to host a giveaway. I did not receive any payment, compensation, or products for my participation, and my opinions are my own.

Good luck!
