A Day in the Life ... of an Installation

What is an Installation Day:
*Exciting
*Not-Usually Glamorous (don't take pictures of the DESIGNER on installation day!!)
*Long
*Need for Snacks
*Multi-tasking (carpenter, maid, designer, .... all in one!)
*Rewarding

We get to see THIS:
Become REALITY!
At this high-rise condo in the Mansion at Turtle Creek,
we transformed a flat into a warm, inviting home.

The trick about installation day is that our iPhone picture NEVER do justice with the beauty created during this day. SO That is why we have our talented photographer come back after the fact to take the glamorous shots to share.

Until then ... we will give you sneak peeks with the best we could muster .. our high-tech iPhone ;)

Beginning of the DAY:

Like we said -- there's not much "glamour" going on yet ;)

And then all of the sudden THIS happens:
What's a designer to do when the windows need washing?! Why not take a pic?

Our long time, trusted art installer, Fred.... We couldn't complete an installation without him!
.... And of course the pets. All pets seems to love new furniture ;)

See where it all started!
We are sharing a few of our presentation layouts with sneak peeks of the final product! READ ON!!!!

LIVING ROOM

With a classic color scheme of magentas, grays, taupes and creams with a splash of GOLD, we gave this condo the glamour it deserved.

The gold accessories throughout gave a nice continuity to the space!

Draperies were installed this week and helped to add the "icing to the cake" for this spectacular flat.

MASTER BEDROOM

Soft blues and jewel tones took over this otherwise
ordinary master bedroom turning blah into bling!

DINING ROOM

The stunning magenta pop of velvet in the dining chairs mixed with the bold abstract artwork
sets the stage for this entire home.

Custom, modern florals brought in the bright and bold colors to the simple,
yet elegant centerpiece!

Tying in from the living room --- the gorgeous abstract floral
wallpaper to complete the color concept.

CUSTOM BAR:

The custom drawn bar paired with stunning hardware and perfectly selected accessories makes this addition to the condo the icing on the cake!

Be on the lookout for the professional pictures in the
coming months of this gorgeous high-rise install!

Dividing Large Living Spaces the Right Way!

We come across this design dilemma often ... LARGE SPACES.
This can be a large living room OR a dining / living combination room!

If you are faced with the "What do I do?..."
Do what we do!

While it's GOOD to have open and airy places, it can also cause some headaches for those who don't know how to tackle the furniture arrangement correctly.

Try this approach or call TCI to help!
Here are a few ways WE have solved this debacle dynamically.

1. Storage to Separate :
Using a two sided bookcase or storage piece to separate areas will help to keep the open feel yet divide off the space in a pleasing manner.

2. Colors to Separate:
By bringing colors in from separate seating areas in small doses you can accomplish the task of having the room coordinate but still allowing two seating groups to function.

3. Drapery to Separate:
Change up the window treatments! Flanking windows in the living area with long drapery panels while installing roman shades in the breakfast nook will help to assign a purpose to each space.

4. Rugs to Separate:
Rugs are KEY. They delineate areas BEST. In this large living room, we were able to place TWO completely separate seating groups in this space and make it look like they BELONG by grounding them on different area rugs.

5. Lighting to Separate:
Lighting will also scream one space from another. This living room / dining room combination is quickly deciphered by the chandelier over the dining table and
can lighting over the living seating area.

Client Projects: Part 2: It's All in the Details - Accessories

IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS!

...and a sneak peek to a few of our
new finished spaces!

Part 2: Last post we talked about certain details within a design that can really accentuate the overall space… anybody remember what they were?!??! POP QUIZ ;)
Hint ** Cabinetry, accent pillows etc

Well guess what? There are other details that can also
accentuate a space in a BIG way.
ACCESSORIES.

When placed correctly and selected wisely, the accessories in a room
can really define the design.

Here are a few of our recently completed projects in Uptown Dallas
and Highland Park that
showcase the fine details of accessories!

You have to be careful not to "over-accessorize" or "clutter"
Stacking books, and clustering vases are always good choices.

Color : popping color in the accessories is sometimes the most important
place to bring in the scheme. Many people want to keep their upholstery neutral
and have their "pop" throughout the accessories.

One simple sculpture on an end table and make a beautiful chair gorgeous!

The background of accessories is just as important as the accessory itself.
This bookcase wouldn't pop NEAR as much without the accent blue paint.

Cluster "like" items. Whether it is a ball, a set of vases or a glass knot,
when you cluster similar items together it helps to provide a method to the madness
and a way of order in the accessories.

Sometimes an accessory can be something different - such as this
glass vessel sink. Without this statement piece, this otherwise ordinary
bath wouldn't take on the unique appearance that it has!

When showing off a beautiful accent tile, sometime less is more when it comes to your accessory plan. Select simple, classic pieces, not to deter from the "wow" factor.

And sometimes, a simple, yet gorgeous lamp is all you need to put the icing on the cake!!

Have we convinced you on the importance of DETAILS in your design??

Living Room Remodel: Create a fresh look in small details

HAPPY MONDAY!

In order to start the week off right, we wanted to share the inside details
from our installation last week!

Have you wanted to "spruce" your space without changing the backbone of your room?
One of our recent installations is a great example of how to do just that!

It's all in the details!....

...to create a beautiful space!

Take a look at how our firm accomplished this challenge for our client:

First
We started with a simple floor plan to see how much space we had to replace the cocktail table and possibly add two little bunching cubes.

Next
We knew how much space we had to work with so we began pulling options that would work with our clients existing sofa and armoire chest.

Lastly
We added new and fresh art and accessories to really change the whole feel of the room.
We layered a mirror in front of the musical art along with wood accents and ceramic birds ;)

Think creatively: A large lantern filled with books and a pop of blue in a
bird inspired plate helped to pull the look together.

Doing something out-of-the-box always is an eye catcher!

Look Up: We wallpapered the ceiling coffer of her living room and entryway.
What a WOW factor!!
So, don't forget the ceilings!

Here is a look at where we began, and what we ended with....with a few simple pieces of furniture, art and accessories!
