We are giving back! IDS Impact's Latest Project - CARE

Traci Connell Interiors is so excited to team up with Barbara Gilbert Interiors to make the latest IDS Impact Project a SUCCESS!

We are taking The Center for Animal Research and Education to a new level! (Take a minute to read about this awesome facility that creates permanent homes for
 over 50 large exotic animals).

As long time members of The Interior Design Society, together our firms are creating Safari suites that will be rented out to those looking for a true adventurous experience to raise money for this organization that is run completely by donations.

On one side of the suite, the inhabitants will overlook live lions and the other side, live tigers. An experience not for the timid!
We are happy to be giving back to our community and be able to use our talents.

The suites are beginning to come along and the exterior paint is underway!

Barbara and I were able to walk the space this week and meet the director of this
wonderful establishment!

A few initial space plans were sent to us to begin working on the design.

This layout shows how brave the suite-stay actually is. Surrounded by the cat enclosure ... the suite is nestled between two very large cat cages.

Stay tuned for more in this series as we continue on this journey of creating a
beautiful suite space!

Your Furniture: Step by Step

Have you ever wanted to WATCH your furniture being made?
If you live in the Dallas Metroplex, here is your chance!

Yes, the bookcase was hand carved (and would look
PERFECT in my house)-

Josey Kennington of Paloma Creations is the newest trade member of the
DFW Chapter of the Interior Design Society... and we are thrilled
to have her be a part of our group!

Josey hosted our last meeting and gave us a tour of her
fabulous facility.  Have you ever watched "Designer's
Challenge" on HGTV and seen the clients and designer
visit the factory to see their pieces being created?

Same idea... really quite amazing.

Acrylic. Glass. Mirror. Metal. Wood.
Leather. Marble. Granite. Iron

(she could probably make something out of Silly Putty)

Here are some glimpses from behind the scenes:

Artisan at Work

Almost there-

Check out the details and hand drawn plans-
Any custom piece you can dream up...
or that I can dream up!

(Best part... it only takes a few weeks)

I WANT THIS ONE TOO!

No MDF used here:)

Q.U.A.L.I.T.Y.

Any paint color... any metallic... any carving

From a picture, piece of fabric or a rough sketch...
here you go-

If you are ready to walk the process... step by step...
call me and we will make it happen with Josey
and her talented team!

Until next time,

Lots of Wins in Vegas!

Many great surprises for Dot, Barbara and I at the IDS Conference in Vegas!
Our local DFW Chapter of the Interior Design Society
won not one... but two... awards this year!

We won Best Public Relations (with our work on our Jonathan's Place Project)
and Best Idea for our Summer Business Blast series! Woo hoo!
Great work by great members!

Do I look surprised below? The CEO and President of
IDS announced that
I was selected as the newest National Board Member.... wow!
Moving on up....:)

Pictured with Pam White  (CEO/President), Nicole Yee (Board Member/San Fran), Margi Kyle (past President of Nat'l board) and
Tasha Robinson (Board Member/Atlanta)

On to my hostess duties! I mentioned that I was the Hostess for the Conference
and when I got there, I noticed a small problem.
With my knee issue, I could not get off the stage!
Ms. High Maintenance asked nicely for a solution... and viola! Done!

I fulfilled my hostess duties... and then fired my friend Barbara from the photographer's role!

More highlights from the day at the Las Vegas Market... a blast from the past!

Jackie Van Tobel... Minutes Matter Expert and Fabric Extraordinaire

And Monica Pederson from HGTV's Designed to Sell and HGTV Dream Home Giveaway...
as nice as she is pretty:)

I can't wait to show you the products and new lines I found... stay tuned over
the next few days for a Fresh Look!

P.S. In addition to Awards, I did win $130:)

Until next time,

IDS Fall Social: Outdoor Living Pt. 2

Now that you've seen the before and after pics of my outdoor living area,
here is a little summary of how we enjoy it!

Texas weather has been perfect, and as the current President of the DFW Chapter
my board members and I were privileged to host the Interior Design Society
at my house last week...
under the stars.

It was fantastic to socialize with 20 other area designers-
who have become great friends as well.

Anne Marie, Paula and I solving MAJOR design dilemmas-

Sweet Gaylynn and Kendra... love them both:)

Glamorous Kathy and Sheri-

Talented Barbara, Rita, Michelle and Lori

Kristy and I getting a kick out of something????

Nancy and my Princess, Ozzy (who is a boy trapped in girl's fur... more on him another time!)

The crew playing a game... hmmm- we found out some very interesting
tidbits about one another that night!

My role is President will end in December, but they will see me at the
IDS National Conference in
Vegas this January...
sporting my new role as Past President:)!

Thank you Alba for taking pictures and the rest of the chapter for just being you!

(on that note... if you are a DFW Interior Designer looking for support in the industry, educational opportunities, and more-

Until next time,
Traci

IO Metro welcomes IDS!

This new, hip furniture showroom graciously hosted the monthly meeting of the DFW Chapter of the Interior Design Society... and boy, was it a treat!

IO Metro Furniture is catering to a crowd that desires a Pottery Barn/ Crate and Barrel look but with a bang!  As many of you have heard me say, "Bigger is better and less of it!"- which is exactly what I saw in their showroom.
Unique furniture and large accessories that make an impact in a room.

Love the accessories on the mantle-

The wall decor format is a favorite "go to" of mine

Our group was treated to a catered lunch and a tour of the beautiful showroom, which not only has striking items but they are very well priced.

Have you ever seen Nesting Dining Tables?  How great for entertaining!

Beautiful presentation

Now... less food, more decorating!

Simple, yet Stunning!

Just for me:)

So many things on the credenza, but it works!

More love...

If you are looking for a simpler look, try this design style.  Visit IO Metro near the Galleria in Dallas or at the new location in Fairview off Stacy Road.  If you don't trust yourself or need hand holding, call me and we'll get "Hello Metro" look together.

Until Next Time,
Traci
