FIX your Front Door for Fall

It's that time of year again! Time to think about fancying your front porch up for the fall season.

This is one of my favorite parts about decorating for fall. Your front door can say so much, its the first vision that greets your guests and it sets the stage for fall festivities.

But there are definitely ways TO DO a front door and ways NOT to do it.

We've compiled a list of our favorite 4 elements of a stunning fall front porch for you to start your brains thinking with.

1. A perfect wreath:
Not something gussy with 15 cornucopias nestled in it.... but something unique, different, yet simplistic.

2. Pumpkin Stacking:
You can never have enough pumpkins, and we love the look of stacked pumpkins around your front door, in your flower beds and around!

3. A "Setting":
Creating a small set of fall if space allows is always unique. We love using hay bails, homemade banners and natural textures

4. Be Different:
Think outside of the box as this home has by being asymmetrical and creating height to their design

Happy Beginning to Fall!

Best Autumn Retail Picks of the Season!

Fall is finally here!!
(or at least its starting to feel like it before it gets freezing!)

While we showed you some great pumpkin centerpiece ideas last week, here are some of our favorite buys of the seasons at retail shops you can go and grab them up for yourself!!

Get ready to READY your home for the Fall season!

This pumpkin punch bowl and cups set from Pottery Barn. Lovely.

This wishbone platter from West Elm ... mmmm so yummy.

Pretty much the most precious leaf salt and pepper shaker you've ever seen from Bloomingdale's.

Williams and Sonoma does it again with these pumpkin place card holders ;)

And quickly followed up by this simple, yet adorable pumpkin and burlap wreath. Thanks Williams and Sonoma

These pumpkin spreaders are to die for in cuteness.

Not only did West Elm make platters, but also plates in a variety of Thanksgiving designs!

And come on ... I saved the best for last here -- a cast iron dish with a duck head handle from Habitat.
You're welcome!

Now you have no excuse to say "I just couldn't find anything this season" ... because we've laid it out for you!!

ENJOY!

5 Simple Pumpkin Centerpieces to Perfect Your Place

It's officially October and even though it was 95 degrees in Texas today ...
we are feeling the FALL spirit. And ready to prep our home for the upcoming holidays.

It's easy to go into the attic and pull out all your old Autumn decor out ... but don't you want a fresh look this year? And it STILL be an easy thing to do?

Here are 5 fun ideas by Real Simple that caught our eye!

The Succulent Pumpkin:
This is our personal fav. Simply cut a hole in the top of a pumpkin and clean the inside out ... and insert a succulent planter in the hole!

The Terrarium Pumpkin:
This can be done a couple different ways. Use a glass fish bowl and add moss, small pumpkins and pine cones, OR turn a larger glass vase or bowl upside down on a wood slice and use the same decor items within!

The Decoupage Pumpkin:
This one is a kid favorite. Using Mod-Podge and artificial leaves ... create your own design on the outside of the pumpkin!

 The Stacked Pumpkin:
These slightly resemble mushrooms and we love the stacked appearance. Using wooden skewers, attach a couple of pumpkins on either end and finish the bottom with a little moss!

The Metallic Pumpkin:
Another one of our favs -- using copper leaf sheets and gilding adhesive ... create your own pattern and apply the gilding adhesive where you want the metallic to be, then apply the copper leaf to the pumpkin. Beautiful!

Happy Pumpkin Decorating!

Accessories PERFECT for Fall.

It's that time of year again! Bring out the pumpkins, spice candles and faux leaves.

BUT Do you have to?! We have accessories to show you that are PERFECT for Fall, but don't have the kitschy appearance of a bowl full of fake fall leaves!

1. Earth tones. Use natural plant life that brings in the fall colors. Auburn, moss green, and taupes are great starters.

2. Wood Look. Natural wood is always a plus in the fall season. It brings the outdoors inside, which is what everyone wants to do in this crisp season!

3. Lanterns. What says FALL better than a great collection of lanterns?? Fill the inside with the unexpected. Books, or a pop of color to coordinate with your home.

4. Don't forget about your OUTDOORS! Pottery and Plants. Need I say more??

5. Wire baskets and Fall Colors. A touch of coral and rust in the Autumn season just seems to bring a sense of the north-east to Texas! A few sprigs of color mixed in a natural wire basket will brighten up any countertop.

Share your pictures of Fall Accessories on our FACEBOOK PAGE!! We'd love to see them!

Fall Decor - How to Do it Right!

Fall Decor : Non Tacky Style

Please no :
1. Scary scarecrows staring at visitors when they walk in your front door
2. Mummy wrapped pumpkins with eye balls ( ?!!? )
3. Disheveled hay bails lying around (creating more mess that its worth)
4. Plastic fake leaves lining your stairway or doorway.

You will THANK us!

How do create an "Autumn" atmosphere without sacrificing the beauty of your house?

Try THESE tips!
1. Small Doses: Bounce the fall decor around your home in bits at a time. No need to overtake an entire table with garb when you have a whole house to fill!
- A simple vase full of colorful leaves with a few white pumpkins surrounding is a perfect way to set the dining table

2. Stick with mostly neutrals: Don't try to pull out every color of orange you can find. Creams, whites, chocolates, and a few splashes of changing leaves color will leave your home feeling light and airy, yet ready to celebrate Fall!

3. Lanterns: These simple pieces are always a nice touch to fill with a few (non tacky) Fall items. A couple of white pumpkins, candles, pinecones.... all great choice for fillers.

4. Simple pumpkins: We love the cream pumpkins with a hint of orange. No need to buy the "ugly duckling" pumpkin that has a giant growth on the side. Stick with what you know is good.

5. Mix Fall colors with your home's color palette: Just because it is Fall, doesn't mean you have to do away with the rhythm and order of your home. Use a blue vase that is out all year round, to fill with a simple fall leaf.

6. Go classic on the patio: Like we said before, no need to scare off your neighbors with eyeball-pumpkins and grimacing scarecrows.... How about something much more classic and inviting??

Here's to enjoying Fall and hoping for cooler weather in Texas!
