Ava Living: Fairview Rustic Dining Room Feature

Thank you again, Ava Living, for selecting my
project to feature on your home page this week!

It is an honor to be chosen for the Ava Living profile on Rustic Comforts.
This Fairview house was such a fun project for me since it was a brand
new custom build, lots of neat architectural features and
wonderful client lives there!

Here are a few additional photos that are featured on my website:

I also did a blog post on some of the custom art we put in the home featuring cowhide!

Read about it here.

Call me to add a bit of Rustic Flair or Hill Country Chic to your home!

Until next time,

The Perfect Dining Chair!

While I am away, my blog is still working!

The one thing
I always tell my clients...

"Less is More"-

...so perhaps I should follow my own advice when sourcing dining room chairs for my DINKs
While searching for chairs that have an upholstered seat and wood back, I came across a
simple Louis Chair and loved the clean lines as well as endless possibilities of styling!

Although these are not right for my DINKs, they may work for you!

Start here and watch the ideas multiply!

Simple chairs but add drama by using two fabrics-
my personal fav is an upholstered back
with a faux leather seat (practicality!)

(also, totally okay to add two different host chairs at each end of the table..
or in this case with the round- mixed in)

Let the walls do the work! Louis chairs paired with a custom banquette... ahhhh

On top of beauty, here's another way to add a custom feel for less.
 Change out the fabric
on the back side of the chair only-

Another example~

Can't get much simpler than this, but what an impact! Is it the chandelier?

You can always add nailhead and paint, paint paint!!!!

Remember, the chairs don't have to match the table.
It's all about making the colors, patterns and finishes work together...
I can help you do that!

You know I'm totally in love with the photo above:)

We are getting close to making a decision for the DINKs dining set and this chair is the front runner...

Will the finish be white? Espresso? Red? Will the seat be a green faux croc?
 Decisions... decisions...

I'll keep you updated!

Until next time,
Traci

My Dining Room: Revisited

March 5th was when I saw this fabric for the first time and created my very first blog post.  If you remember, I knew it was the one, not for a client... but for me!

I left both Greenhouse fabrics on the chair for contemplation for a month and
finally pulled the trigger 6 weeks ago....
and they turned out perfectly!

Check out the beautiful detail-

Yes, it costs a little extra to add details, but look at the WOW! factor on this panel edge!
The braid is from Kasmir and is a showstopper!

I didn't stop there and continued to the top of the stairs...

I have been dying to put this cornice board design in a client's home, but no bites yet...
(my phone will start ringing off the hook after this post!)

Easy peasy... you can even do it yourself with a cornice board kit,
faux crocodile leather and nailhead trim.

While I don't like to "theme" my rooms, there are some commonalities in the foyer
which actually provides continuity.  Not only do the colors flow from the dining
to the living room to the foyer, but my current "thing" for nailhead appears quite often!

First on the cornice board-
Second on the bench-
Third on the dining room chairs-
Fourth on the living room sofa-
Fourth on the artwork-

(I even have nailhead in my kitchen backsplash!)

Here is the current pic of my foyer with new custom artwork from La Montage

Ozzy matches the bench, so he got to stay:)

Close ups:

So for now, foyer is officially finished and you will see the other two rooms soon!

How did I do???

Until next time,
Traci
