Avery's Bath Transformation and a DIY Project Idea for you!

I wouldn't consider myself very "crafty"... I definitely used to be, until I had to
start using my time a bit more efficiently.

But Sunday morning at 6:23, I did a little craft project...
no cutting
no pasting
no sewing
especially... no painting!

My kind of project...

just peel and stick-

Avery's bathroom has come a long way, but of course Mom I thought it needed something...

Before:

After:

(okay, I sort of forgot about this little DIY number... the mosaic only came in blue and white but we wanted to add the brown and tan, so we individually punched out some from the mesh and glued in the tiles we wanted. Worth it but our fingers were numb by the end!)

And After my craft project:

What an inexpensive, classy, whimsical way to dress up your walls, or doors:)...
and rip it off when you are tired of it!

(Note...when she got home from her "spend the night"...
she asked why there was tape all over her door.
Four days later, it is still there:)

Wall decals are all the rage... see some inspirational ideas below:

How clever...

and under $50!

Absolutely love this clock idea... use one at the end of a hallway with a
 battery operated clock on top

Wow Factor!

A bit of the unexpected....

One of my favorite ideas which will save you hundreds of dollars...
a classic headboard... sticker? Yes!

Wall decals are perfect for kids rooms

Definitely wish I saw this when Austin was younger... I actually hot glued
a felt "road" onto the wall....arghhh

Turn a simple chair into a showstopper!

I've seen these Wall Decals all over town, so try it.... and if you already have,
send me pictures and I will post them!

Kaleidoscope of Homes: Orange Crush

Are you stuck in a design rut?  Yes, I get that way from time to time,
but good thing it is only temporary!

For a bit of inspiration, I attended the Kaleidoscope of Homes in the
Shady Oaks subdivision located in Southlake last week...
...and it worked!  I took lots of pictures and will be sharing some of them
with you over the next few days...
(p.s. many showhouses do not allow photography,
but this one does!).

While I absolutely flipped over several of the master baths,
this particular girl's room (or a lucky guest room) made me do a double take-

Was it the tangerine walls? The monochromatic color scheme?
(hint... looks like it may be Benjamin Moore Citrus Orange...)

Or maybe the arched mirrors or "made for Traci" headboard?

Really, I can't stop there... perhaps it is the whimsical decorative paint or the art
flanked by vintage shutters.

Who needs a ceiling fan?

A few steps away... the sitting room-

Love the installation of the drapery panels and the fabric is to die for!

Every smart girls needs somewhere to study...

The attached bath is just as stellar!

(Money saver.... go for the bang with the glass tile, but instead of
applying to the entire wall, choose a section!)

Great details... carpentry makes the space and notice the painted ceiling.

Another fabulous light fixture... ahhhh!

the show does not disappoint.

Hurry, two more days for you to get ideas to incorporate into your house...
or call me and I will do it for you!

Until next time,
Traci

Market Madness: Day Five- Misc Pics!

Last day to share my recent Dallas Market Finds with you!  Today I will show you some random pictures I took... things that just caught my eye.  Remember, that is a good way for you to start your decorating inspiration file- just collect photos of rooms, furniture pieces or ideas that you fall in love with.  Use your file as a head start when hiring a professional interior designer me to help with your design needs!

Hold on! Here goes....

Love these books! You can purchase them like this or use this idea to cover your own perhaps with scrapbook paper. Remember to group like items for impact!

Conversation starter! Keep your wine glasses close... clever storage from Bailey Street.

I do love that black and white! Favorite pick of the pic is the grouping of wall mirrors-

This artwork is special! A repeat of magenta and green from earlier this week!

Really thought this was unique! Buy this one or my custom artists can paint a large piece
split into sections. The bonus is the architectural piece mounted at the top... ooh la la!

Back to my gray and yellow color combo from Sterling Industries

Fun for my Oh, Canada! client!

This one too from The Rug Market

I have loved these wall sconces for a longgggg time and they are finally available off the floor.
I didn't pull the trigger and now I wonder if I am too late! Courtesy of Jene's

Would love to do another baby's room... call me!

And- back to where we started this week at Global Views

I hope you enjoyed the week of inspiration from my eyes at the Dallas Summer Market.  Now, leave a comment below and let me know what was the favorite thing you saw from the photos!  I'm interested to hear what inspires you as well:).

Until next time,

From the Mouths of Babes

After ten years of being a designer, I have acquired a lot of adoring nicknames for my clients but I have never received one... until now!  I find it quite ironic that I finally have shared a few of my favorites with you and then out of the blue, my 5 year old client, who I renamed "Monster Jam" had news for me.

I visited with Monster Jam and his mom last week and after he said hello, his mom said, "Tell her what you call her...".  He was pretty shy about it (which made me a little nervous) but decided to announce it...
"Mrs. Pretty Maker because you make our house pretty."  Whew- I like it!  So cute and very smart boy.

His mom and I finalized fabric selections for the breakfast nook furniture and then I was treated to view the photo album of his visit to the "Monster Jam" exhibition in Dallas.  Time flies... what happened to Thomas the Tank?

Here is Monster Jam's bedroom we did a few years back and more cute rooms for boys!

No Monster Jam trucks in sight:)

Wide stripes are in-

Look where the bed is-

Inexpensive wallpaper... Maps!

New trend in nursery design... modern look

Defining "personal space"

Boy's bedrooms can be just as fun as little girls!  Call me if you want a visit from "Mrs. Pretty Maker"!

Until next time,

Traci
