The Perfect Dining Chair!

While I am away, my blog is still working!

The one thing
I always tell my clients...

"Less is More"-

...so perhaps I should follow my own advice when sourcing dining room chairs for my DINKs
While searching for chairs that have an upholstered seat and wood back, I came across a
simple Louis Chair and loved the clean lines as well as endless possibilities of styling!

Although these are not right for my DINKs, they may work for you!

Start here and watch the ideas multiply!

Simple chairs but add drama by using two fabrics-
my personal fav is an upholstered back
with a faux leather seat (practicality!)

(also, totally okay to add two different host chairs at each end of the table..
or in this case with the round- mixed in)

Let the walls do the work! Louis chairs paired with a custom banquette... ahhhh

On top of beauty, here's another way to add a custom feel for less.
 Change out the fabric
on the back side of the chair only-

Another example~

Can't get much simpler than this, but what an impact! Is it the chandelier?

You can always add nailhead and paint, paint paint!!!!

Remember, the chairs don't have to match the table.
It's all about making the colors, patterns and finishes work together...
I can help you do that!

You know I'm totally in love with the photo above:)

We are getting close to making a decision for the DINKs dining set and this chair is the front runner...

Will the finish be white? Espresso? Red? Will the seat be a green faux croc?
 Decisions... decisions...

I'll keep you updated!

Until next time,

A Sweet Look for a Sweet Peach!

Feeling domestic and noticing the ripened peaches on my counter, I was inspired to make a
homemade Peach Cobbler... in honor of my new client, Georgia Peach.

I solicited a helper and we got busy (with help from my laptop and
 Southern Living, of course).

We follow directions well:)

Ready to go in the oven...

And it was delicious... I do have to say!

***Admittedly it was called "Easy Peach Cobbler"... cuz that's how I cook!
Get the recipe here***

My client just moved to Starwood in Frisco from Alpharetta, Georgia... and being a
Georgia Peach, as well, I knew exactly the decorating style she was accustomed to!

After looking at different color palettes for her empty family room, we decided to
freshen things up with a lighter wall color (BM Lenox Tan), updated geometric
print swivel chair and ottoman by Charles Ray, media console,
colorful pillows and anchored by a neutral sectional
Not many new homeowners want the same look they had in the old house!

This is where we started:

A classic club chair (adding an optional swivel base and upgraded seat cushion)
in the cool geo green upholstery!
The multi-colored fabric is for the sofa pillows... lots of colors to pull from!

Next was the rug and sweet Georgia Peach is thinking it may be too much pattern-
we searched a bit more but I LOVE the non traditional floral by Feizy...

Here's another rug option- a version of a trellis pattern. This line is custom sized to any
dimensions we want and is affordable to boot!

On to art which has been fun! After trying a few pieces "live" in the home
(thanks Gaylynn!), we decided on this transitional beauty!
***Note: Room in Progress!***

And this in the dining room~ love the size and texture

As you know, decorating is done in layers and next we will tackle lamps,
reupholster existing pieces, mirrors and occasional tables.

We, Georgia Peaches, will get it done!

Sassy Skirted Chairs!

Check out the sassy skirt on these chairs!  Love the pleats... it reminds me of my cheerleading skirts from back in the day-

This was a fun project with Mrs. Cave Dweller and we both were so tickled with the end result.  Yes, we have similar taste- which made the job even more fun.  She wanted something different in her kitchen nook so we paired the skirted chairs by Sam Moore along with COM fabric from Kasmir and Greenhouse with the custom banquette by Bentley Churchill (yes, you have seen it before!).  It just so happened that two of my clients went for this curved sofa/bench for their nooks at just about the same time.  As you can see, the fabrics definitely set them apart but the style for both is oh so chic!

The table is an ivory painted wash with a bit of distressing and pulls in the custom art by Elle Design.

Pleats + Nailhead = Love

Monogrammed Slipcover

No worries with another slipcover

Pearson Beauty

Can't forget the ottoman... another must from Hickory Chair

Lastly, formal with casual works in this dining room

So, can you pull this look off in your own home or do you have to take it to the beach house???!!!

Until next time,
Traci
